This coming weekend (January 16-18) marks the 2009 edition ofthe Canadian Motorsports Expo. The show has moved this year to the International Centre in Toronto from the Congress Centre and promises to be even better than last year.
The show gains momentum every year and is definately worthy of a visit.

Honda exits F1
In a move that frankly, stunned even me, Honda has withdrawn from Formula 1 effective immediately. Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello (one of my personal favourites) and even ex-Ferrari big wig Ross Brawn are now out of jobs. I must admit when I first heard Brawn was heading to Honda that I thought in 2009 we would start seeing major improvements to the car. Now we may never know, unless a new buyer does in fact come along.
Formula 1 keeps going on about how they are trying to cut costs, yet Bernie has extended the schedule over the past 2 years which in turn has meant increased travel costs which also means an increase to sponsor perks on a weekend etc etc. And the engine limiting that was supposed to save costs, how much more money did the teams spend on development with the aero packages and now even though they rev at a lower level, the aero has caught up and the cars are just as fast as ever.
Now to me, F1 is the epitome of car development and pushing the car to its limits. The new rules that Mosely and Ecclestone are trying to implement which will make the cars more like A1GP that Formula 1 are going to end up costing the series, not making their pockets heavier. Do you really think Ferrari, McLaren and BMW, for example, are going to field a car that does not have their engine in it and a set chassis that they cannot experiment with? They're not going to stick around for that.
I love my F1, I try to see every race live, sometimes I fall asleep, but I do try, please don't make it a spec series. We saw what happened to Champ Car, let's not do the same to F1.
